Welcome to the 19th Annual Peace, Love and Happiness Charity Weekend

On April 22nd, 2021 Gary Spellman and John Paul DeJoria (aka Mayhem and El Patron) welcomed friends from all corners of the country to the city of Austin for the 19th Annual Peace, Love and Happiness Charity Motorcycle event.
After the events of 2020 forced the cancellation of our 18th annual event, it was evident that the PLH family was eager to get together!
The weekend kicked off with a Welcome Party and Hall of Fame Induction at the Meridan 98 Lounge of the Sonesta Hotel. The first order of business, was to highlight, in person, the 2020 inductees that had to be inducted by video last year: Charles and Sharon Riser, Rigsby Fredericks, Gunslingers Meat (aka John Noetzel) and Uno (Rob Richman). Etta Moore was also honorarily inducted to the PLH HOF as she retired as Director of the 100 Club after years of loyal service.
The 2021 inductees included Conor Turnage, and Jodi and Arnie Zahn. They are the 9th and 10th class to join the exclusive rank of Peace, Love, and Happiness Hall of Fame members.
Friday morning’s usual “Magical Mystery Ride” was cancelled due to inclement weather. Instead, the group gathered for a brunch in the hotel which offered a casual opportunity for members of the group to catch up with each other and get to know new attendees better.
Party hosts, John Paul DeJoria and Gary Spellman welcomed their guests to the concert and BBQ at the Star Hill Ranch Friday evening by introducing the first of what would be 7 acts in the line up that evening. 14 yr old Dakota Spellman first took the PLH stage on Gary’s shoulders in the 5th annual ride, and dazzled along side Ron White last year with a tight comedy set… this year, however, he kicked off the PLH “Picking Party” with an acoustical set.
Music is central to the Austin scene – and this year’s concert only furthered the city’s reputation as Live Music Capitol of the World with the stacked line up of Scott Devore and Emmy Robbins, Nate Boff, Shinyribs, Madame Radar, Alex Ruiz and Ruben Vela, and Jeremiah James. As a special surprise - Nashville star, Damien Horn got in on the fun to close the night with a high energy mash up of dance favorites.
The early forecast may have forced the evening’s event inside – but the clouds parted for showtime and the crowd was treated to a breeze and a beautiful Texas sunset at Starhill Ranch.
Saturday - El Patron and Mayhem, along with the Sherriffs of Travis County, led the sold out ride from the Sonesta to Verde’s Mexican Parilla for the VIP luncheon. After lunch, some of the group headed to the legendary Poodie’s Hilltop to support VIP and Hall of Fame member, Sharon Burke as the Texas staple celebrated it's grand re-opening post covid.
Thanks to the incredible group of VIP’s -which includes several Ultimate Face Cosmetics artists and JPMS team members, Paul Mitchell the School owners, directors and graduates; and many Ultimate Face and JPMS Focus salon owners - the PLH motorcycle event has become a staple in the city of Austin. Since its inception in 2002, the Peace*Love*Happiness Charity weekend has raised millions of dollars for the families of fallen first responders, veterans and children in need.
